I hope you have been well! As a reminder, our next meeting is Thursday, July 25th at 10am and will be available in a hybrid format (virtual and in person). Community Updates:

  • `*Deadline extension*` SNSMOPS Call for Workshops

    • The Call for Workshops deadline for the 2024 SNSMOPS has been extended to this Sunday, June 9th at 11:59p! Please submit your workshops proposals here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7758081/2024-SNSMOPS-Call-for-Workshops.

    • You are welcome to submit workshops on any topic related to substance use. This can be a film showing, panel discussion, presentation, training, just be sure to submit your ideas to the link above.

  • Community Health Assessment

    • About: The Southern Nevada Health District alongside their community partners, are conducting the 2025 Community Health Assessment (CHA). The CHA is a systematic process involving the community to identify and analyze community health needs and gaps. Please complete this assessment to inform us about the most pressing health needs and gaps in community.

Funding Announcement:

  • The Fund for a Resilient Nevada has released a new notice of funding opportunity

    • About: As required by Nevada Revised Statutes 433.738 and through the development of Nevada's Statewide Plan, this NOFO will allocate money from the Fund for a Resilient Nevada for the following initiatives:

      • Target 1: Build Capacity

      • Target 2: Prevent the Misuse of Opioids

      • Target 3: Reduce Harm Related to Opioid Use

      • Target 4: Provide Behavioral Health Treatment

      • Target 5: Implement Recovery Communities across Nevada

      • Target 6: Provide Opioid Prevention and Treatment Consistently across the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Systems

      • Target 7: Provide High Quality and Robust Data and Accessible, Timely Reporting

    • Important Dates:

    • Harm Reduction 201: Understanding Drug Related Stigma

      • About: This training takes a critical look at the history of the substance misuse movement and its impact on recovery and health equity in our community. This workshop will introduce the concepts of social inequalities faced by people who use drugs, the stigma they experience, and how this impacts their ability to access services.

    • Overdose Response with Naloxone - Training of Trainers

      • When: Thursday, June 27th from 9:30a-11:00a

      • Where: Southern Nevada Health District (280 S. Decatur Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89107)

      • Cost: Free

      • About: Join this naloxone train trainers with the current information about the illicit drug supply in our community and the current best practices for reversing overdoses. At the end of this training, you should be equipped with the knowledge and tools to train others in overdose response with naloxone, understand opioids and their effects, and educate others on common myths regarding drug overdose and fentanyl. This training is grant funded and provided at no-cost.
